Slaven Bilić is our new Head Coach - and news of his appointment has gone down a storm in Baggiesland.
Fans, pundits, former team-mates and the wider football circle all stopped by to show their approval of Slaven's return to English football and to wish him well for the challenge ahead.
We’ve been scouring social media and beyond to bring you just some of the reaction to the week’s big news.
From tennis star and adopted Albion fan Goran Ivanisevic to Slaven’s old boss Harry Redknapp, the overwhelming view is a big ‘welcome back’ to one of the game’s big characters. Here’s a selection:
Meanwhile our email has been ‘pinging’ too with testimonials for the new man.
Baggies-mad Adrian Chiles, whose Croatian mum has been known to divide his loyalties in international clashes, wrote: “I’ve known Slaven on and off for years. He's possessed of great intelligence and wit and great knowledge and passion for the game and life in general.
"As my Mum's Croatia, I'm made up to have, kind of, one of my own in charge of the Albion. Let's go, or ‘idemo', as we say in Croatian.”
Famed football journalist Henry Winter was instantly texting to tell us: “You’re going to have fun!! Slaven is a wonderful bloke, totally honest, curious about people and life, as well as a good manager.”
And inevitably Redknapp is another we can expect to see at The Hawthorns this coming season.
Slav’s old West Ham boss said: “Brilliant news - I signed Slaven, great guy, great character and he knows the game. I signed him and he’s one of seven or eight Croatian players I’ve worked with and he’s one of the best.
"I couldn’t be more pleased for him - it’s great to see him back and I look forward to seeing him again.”
