Pardew assesses January transfer dealings

WITH the imminent closing of the January transfer window, Alan Pardew believes he has a squad capable of competing in league and cup.

In his weekly media address Pardew expressed his delight at the arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and Ali Gabr.

“Daniel’s a fantastic player - an England player that could go to the World Cup,” said the Albion boss.

“So it's a great signing for the football club, you can sense it around the training ground.

“Gabr’s a player that we’ve had pencilled in to arrive since before I was here, and I’ve had a good look at him and thought it should go ahead.

“He needs to bed himself in and understand what we do here, but if he can be as successful as Ahmed Hegazi then we’ll have gotten very, very lucky with his transfer fee.

“We are in two competitions. One we have a chance of winning, and the other we need to try and survive."
