Howkins secures Cambridge loan switch

14 August 2017

ALBION youngster Kyle Howkins has joined Cambridge United on loan until January 6, 2018.

The giant centre-half committed his future to the Baggies at the turn of the year, extending his contract to the summer of 2019.

And now the 21-year-old is set to continue his development at League Two United after completing a short-term loan deal.

Kyle spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Mansfield Town - making close to 30 appearances for the Stags as they finished 12th in League Two - and contributing to Town's impressive run of four consecutive clean sheets in January 2017.

He becomes the fourth academy player to secure a deal away from Albion this season after Jack Fitzwater, Shaun Donnellan and Ethan Ross made moves to lower-league outfits.

We wish Kyle all the best for his time with Cambridge.
