Premier League 2 side ready for Middlesbrough test

Boss James Shan previews Boro battle

ALBION’s Premier League 2 side will be looking to strengthen their play-off position when they take on Middlesbrough at Aggborough on Monday night (ko 7pm).

The Baggies have 16 points from their opening ten games, sitting fifth in the division two table.

James Shan’s side halted a run of three defeats in all competitions with a deserved point at Newcastle last Monday, and the boss wants his players to build on that momentum and maintain their push for a top five finish.

He said: “There were lots of positives to take from the game against Newcastle.

“It’d be nice to build some momentum now following that result.

“Our second half display in particular was very good and it was pleasing to get a positive result and stop the losing run which will hopefully prove pivotal.

“It’s a very tight league.

“We will be pushing for the three points which keep us in that pack chasing a play-off spot.

“We have watched Middlesbrough play a couple of times now.

“In the three or four times we have played them at this level, Boro have always proved to be a really difficult test because they are a really hard working group of players.

“That is something that is evident right through their academy.

“I imagine they will pose a threat with their work ethic, but they’ve also got some very good players who can hurt us if given the chance to do so as well.”

Entry is free for both West Bromwich Albion and Kidderminster Harriers season ticket holders, otherwise prices are £5 adults and £1 concessions.
