Irvine confident Berahino will cope with Hodgson call
SAIDO Berahino will find out this Thursday whether he has been called up to England's senior squad for the first time.
Roy Hodgson will announce his squad for England's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and the friendly international against Scotland.
Alan Irvine is unsure whether Berahino will get the nod, but, either way, is confident the young striker will take it in his stride.
"I think he would be delighed to be called up," said Irvine.
"If he does, it's how he handles that. If he doesn't, it's how he handles that too.
"I've said to Saido that if he keeps playing well, good things will happen.
"I've had no conversations with Roy so I don't know what his thoughts or options are.
"I don't know how Roy goes about these things and it's not my business."
Irvine continued: "It's not been difficult keeping his feet on his ground. We have chats. And if he keeps performing as he is, good things will happen.
"If he gets distracted or can't keep his feet on the ground then that will be a problem."
