And keeper calls for team-mates to regroup for next term
BEN Foster has called for a big finish from his team-mates against Stoke on Sunday (ko 3pm) before regrouping for next season.
The Baggies No.1 admits escaping relegation, all-but mathematically, in what has been a taxing campaign is a big relief.
And he hopes Pepe Mel’s men can make the fans proud by winning the Midlands derby against the Potters.
“We have always been a comfortable mid-table team and it has been a bit of a worry,” said Foster.
“I can understand the lads breathing a big sigh of relief really after we won against West Ham and results went our way, but it’s really disappointing and we still want to beat Stoke now.
“It’s been a thoroughly disappointing season from everybody really.
“I think we are quite fortunate and we’ve done well to escape relegation, so I think it’s a point of licking our wounds and making sure we are in the Premier League next season.
“Then we need to regroup and start afresh in the summer for next season.”
Albion will come up against a familiar face in the City ranks, as Peter Odemwingie returns to The Hawthorns for the first time since leaving for Cardiff in September.
But the England goalkeeper is only focussed on what their tenth-placed visitors are capable of as a team.
“We’re not really thinking about it to be honest,” added Foster.
“We’ve seen a few videos of Stoke and we know what they’re going to do.
“But we won’t be targeting individuals. We’ve got to focus on what we’ve got to do.
“There was obviously that bit in the papers from Peter a few months ago but we have been quite happy when he’s scored a few goals recently!
“We won’t pay any special attention to him.”
