Baggies stopper completes 90 minutes in Ecuador draw
BEN Foster earned his seventh international cap last night as he completed England’s 2-2 draw against Ecuador in Miami.
The Albion goalkeeper played all 90 minutes between the sticks at the Sun Life Stadium as Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions stepped up their World Cup preparations.
Foster could do little to stop Ecuador’s eighth-minute opener as Enner Valencia headed home and was equally powerless in the second half as substitute Michael Arroyo rifled home a stunning strike to secure a share of the spoils for the South American side.
Wayne Rooney and Rickie Lambert had earlier turned the game around for England, before both sides finished with 10 men as Raheem Sterling and Antonio Valencia saw red.
The friendly draw comes on the back of last week’s 3-0 victory over Peru at Wembley, where Foster was an unused substitute.
It was the stopper’s second international cap since joining the Baggies having stepped off the bench at half-time in a 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland in May 2013.
Foster will now hope to play some further part on Saturday as England play their final World Cup warm-up match in Florida against Honduras (9.45pm kick-off).
England will then fly out to Brazil ahead of their World Cup Group D campaign starting next Saturday (June 14) against Italy.
