Pepe's 'write on'

And new head coach intends to keep on tweeting

PEPE Mel this week began a new chapter in his career after being appointed Albion’s new head coach.

After waxing lyrical about his football philosophies on his arrival at The Hawthorns, the 50-year-old Spaniard also revealed what he does to relax away from the game.

He admits golf is not his bag and instead prefers to delve into the literary world, where he has had two mystery novels published - ‘The Liar’ and ‘The Road to the Afterlife’ – and is contemplating a third.

"Writing is something that helps me clear my mind,” he said.

“I don't play golf or anything like that. It's something that helps me to be positive.

“I'm sure the third book I write, which will be here in England, will have a happy ending."

Mel is also a social media fan and intends to keep on tweeting during his time in England.

His Twitter account (@pepe_mel) already has more than 116,000 followers.

“Yes, of course, there is no reason not to have a Twitter account,” he added.

“If you can communicate with people it is only a positive thing."
