Morrison: Mel's got pressing matters

And midfielder says draw was a fair result

JAMES Morrison believes Albion’s display in tonight’s 1-1 draw with Everton is a sign of things to come under new head coach Pepe Mel.

Diego Lugano netted his first Barclays Premier League goal to earn the Baggies a point against the sixth-placed Toffees.

And Morrison, who provided the cross for Lugano’s late equaliser, says the new gaffer has made it clear what he expects from his players.

“He wants us to player higher up the pitch than we have been recently,” said the Scotland international midfielder.

“He wants us to press the ball instead of sitting in and letting things happen in front of us.

“I think it will take a few weeks before we fully get used to the new system.

“But we pressed everywhere and we didn’t let Everton dictate the play.

“I think a draw was a fair result.

“It was pleasing to get a positive result tonight.

“Credit to all of the lads.

“It’s a good point and Everton are flying at the moment.

“Hopefully we can build on that.

“The lads have been great this week and everyone is pulling together.

“A lot of effort went in and I think the fans could see that.

“We’re looking forward to the future.”
