Baggies again pledge support to key campaign
ALBION are today showing their support for the Football v Homophobia ‘month of action’.
FvH is an international initiative uniting fans, players, communities, grassroots teams, professional clubs and the football authorities in opposing homophobia and prejudice against LGB&T (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people in football.
As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality, the club will promote FvH - also endorsed by the Football Association and the League Managers’ Association - at today’s home match against Fulham (ko 3pm).
All year round, FvH enables people to take action against prejudice and discrimination based on sexuality or gender identity in football and to celebrate and welcome diversity in the game.
This culminates in an international show of support in February to raise awareness of the issue and showcase new and existing work – which Albion are delighted to help promote.
Homophobia, prejudice and discrimination against LGB&T people in football is unacceptable and Albion are committed to creating safe and inclusive football environments for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Chief executive Mark Jenkins said: “It is important that football can be enjoyed by everyone – with no exceptions.
"That is why today we are promoting the FvH campaign, to protect the right of everyone to participate in football."
