Jones: We know what we need to do

Positivity and belief are key for Albion defender

BILLY Jones has described Saturday as a 'massive opportunity' for Albion to give their survival aspirations a shot in the arm - but knows their season will not be decided come 5pm.

The Baggies host West Ham at The Hawthorns (ko 3pm) as they embark of their final four matches of the Barclays Premier League campaign.

Three points would certainly go a long way towards ensuring top-flight football for another season.

But right-back Jones is also aware that, should it not all go to plan this weekend, there remains no need to panic heading into the fixtures against Arsenal, Sunderland and Stoke.

“We know it’s a massive opportunity, in any home game you obviously give yourselves a better chance you feel of getting something from the game,” the 27-year-old said.

“We’re going all out to win this weekend, like we do for every game, and we’re remaining positive.

“But we know that if it’s not to be this weekend then we’re still going to remain confident, be positive and go into those remaining three games knowing we’ve done the job at hard places to go this season.

“Swansea away for us is a bit of a bogey ground and we got a great win there and the same with Carrow Road.

“We know that if it’s not to be this weekend, we still believe and the belief will still be there that we can turn it around.

“But it would just be great going into Saturday’s game and getting the win.”

Jones added: “We know where we are, we know what we need to do, we know we’ve got four games left, four winnable games.

“But we’re just concentrating on getting a win as soon as possible and that’s West Ham at home this Saturday.”

Jones fully acknowledges Albion will be in for a stern test against Sam Allardyce’s organised Hammers.

Although, he insists Albion will be more focused on matters closer to home and concentrating on what they can do themselves to get a positive result.

And Jones knows a repeat of the superb backing given by the club’s supporters in the last two home games against Cardiff and Tottenham, which both finished in 3-3 draws, will again provide a huge boost.

“You can sense when the crowd are really on it, as such,” he said.

“The last couple of home games, it’s like they have taken it upon themselves knowing they’re massive games for us as a club. They’ve really, really been on it.

“We’ve given them something early on to keep them going recently.

“And even when the results haven’t been what they should have been - we know as a group they should have been two home wins - at the end when we’ve been really, really disappointed they’ve been there at the final whistle knowing we’re all in it together.”
