Albion Foundation corporate golf day is a success
WEDNESDAY saw the return of the second Albion Foundation corporate golf day.
Sixteen teams competed in a shotgun format across the picturesque Little Aston Golf Course in Sutton, home to the qualifying tournament for this year's British Open.
Albion entered two teams for the competition, with Ben Foster, Boaz Myhill, Graham Dorrans, James Morrison, Chris Brunt, Gareth McAuley and three members of the backroom team testing their golfing skills against a very competitive field that also included a team of former players.
One of the Baggies teams (Foster, Myhill, Keith Downing and Dean Kiely) slotted in the final putt to run away with the trophy in a final score of 89 points, while assistant head coach Downing also managed to scoop the prize for the nearest to the pin competition.
Free Radio’s Tom Ross as well as Tony 'Bomber' Brown provided some entertainment in the evening as they spoke to the audience about the Albion legend’s career throughout the 60s and 70s.
Business development manager Jon Ross said: “The golf day was another huge success! We have managed to raise much-needed funds and awareness of what the Albion Foundation does for many people.
"I have to say a massive thank you to all who turned up and supported the event as well as AMROS Golf Management for organising the day for us.
“We managed to raise approximately £4,000 for the Foundation, which is a fantastic achievement.
“Watch this space for news on next year’s event.”
