Midfielder attends local primary school
JAMES Morrison was on hand to help launch The Albion Foundation’s latest project, Active Albion, earlier this month.
The initiative, which is funded by Subway Group and Heart Research UK, will see 12 schools benefit from theory and practical lessons on how to stay healthy.
Activities will educate youngsters in the importance of maintaining a healthy heart and how eating and exercising are vital in fending off heart disease.
Morrison attended Abbey Junior Primary School in Bearwood on Tuesday, September 17 – where he answered questions from pupils relating to diet and training.
“It’s great to see the Foundation coming out to the local schools and delivering the message of having a healthy heart and healthy lifestyle,” said Morrison.
“I try to eat healthily as much as possible, and lead an active lifestyle, which has always helped me progress in football.”
Abbey Junior physical education co-ordinator, Chris Holloway, added: “We are delighted that our children will be able to access this project, and hope that eventually it can be rolled out to our younger age groups too.
Albion Foundation senior development officer, Dave Lawrence, said: “Having James supporting the launch of the initiative was fantastic - the children were able to ask some great questions to a role model of theirs, who gave a good insight into what it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“It was a perfect way to launch what I am sure will be a beneficial programme to local children and the wider community.”
