Clarke lays down his aims for remainder of season
STEVE Clarke admits he would be disappointed if Albion did not reach the 50-point mark now.The Baggies are ninth in the table with 40 points, just five off sixth spot with ten games remaining.
And Clarke is eager to first surpass the club’s best-ever Barclays Premier League haul of 47, which they achieved in the last two seasons.
“I remember last year Albion came up to Liverpool and Roy [Hodgson] and Keith [Downing] were pretty pleased as they were safe," he said.
“You always think 40 will be enough.
“There was one year when it wasn't enough, but generally it is enough.
“So let's just get one more win!
“We've got 30 points to fight for. We have to realistically try to get to 50.
“If we don't get to that now I will be disappointed. I think everyone would be.
“It’s all about progression. You stay up with 47 points, get that many points the following season, and then you’re saying: ‘Can we do better?’
“We’re looking to break the 50-point mark and then stay in the top half, which in the scheme of things, would be an achievement.”
