Baggies today pledge their support to FvH
ALBION are today (Saturday) showing their support for the Football v Homophobia ‘month of action’.
FvH is an international initiative uniting fans, players, communities, grassroots teams, professional clubs and the football authorities in opposing homophobia and prejudice against LGB&T (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans) people in football.
As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality, the club will promote FvH, which is also being backed by the Football Association, Barclays Premier League and League Managers’ Association, at today’s home match against Sunderland (ko 3pm).
All year round, FvH enables people to take action against prejudice and discrimination based on sexuality or gender identity in football and to celebrate and welcome diversity in the game.
This culminates in an international show of support in February to raise awareness of the issue and showcase new and existing work – which Albion are delighted to help promote.
Chief executive Mark Jenkins said: “As a club, we seek to confront and eliminate all forms of discrimination and that is why it is important that we show our support for Football v Homophobia.
“We have a proud history of being an open and welcoming club and it is important that football can be enjoyed by everyone – with no exceptions.”
