Baggies beaten by local rivals
ALBION were defeated 2-1 at Wolves in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Wednesday.
Wes Atkinson’s 20-yard wonder strike levelled the scores but Wanderers fought back to claim all three points with 15 minutes remaining.
And development coach James Shan was disappointed with his side’s performance in the Black Country derby clash.
“We started well and had early chances to take the lead in the first half,” said Shan.
“Wolves posed a physical and direct threat and we struggled to deal with their pace and power.
“During the duration of the 90 minutes we failed to impose our style of play on the game which is disappointing.
“After a positive first half we had very little of the play in the second.
“It was a poor day at the office and I’m hugely disappointed.
“It wasn’t a West Bromwich Albion performance and we didn’t have the physicality to match Wolves on the day.”
