Baggies go fourth with six games remaining
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies climbed to fourth in the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division) courtesy of a comfortable 4-1 win at Newcastle on Sunday.
Goals from Robyn James and Emily Owen, in addition to an Ashleigh Neville brace, saw the Baggies leapfrog their north east hosts.
And ladies manager Dave Lawrence was particularly proud of his side’s second-half performance.
“It was obvious in the first half we hadn’t played for a couple of weeks. It took us the entire first half to find our feet and get into any kind of rhythm,” said Lawrence.
“The second half was miles better and we worked harder with and without the ball, denying them spaces in most areas of the pitch and playing more decisive football.
“The goals we scored were well worked and that should give us more confidence going into the next game.”
