Mulumbu a doubt for City clash

18 October 2012

But Clarke remains hopeful on Lukaku as he returns to training

STEVE Clarke has revealed Youssouf Mulumbu is a doubt for Saturday’s clash with Manchester City (ko 3pm) after picking up a niggle on international duty.

But Romelu Lukaku returned to full training today (Thursday) after being forced out of action with Belgium due to ongoing pain in his right ankle and the Baggies boss remains hopeful the on-loan striker will be fit to face City.

Mulumbu played in DR Congo’s African Nations Cup play-off qualifier second leg against Equatorial Guinea at the weekend and is rated as having a 60-40 chance of taking on the champions.

Chris Brunt and Steven Reid (both hamstring), Billy Jones (knee) and Boaz Myhill (thumb) all remain sidelined, while the game comes too soon for Jerome Thomas, who only returned to training last week following a minor knee operation.
