Rosenberg adds to Clarke's headache

Striker set to be part of travelling squad to Spurs

MARKUS Rosenberg looks set to add to Steve Clarke’s selection headache for Saturday’s trip to Tottenham (ko 3pm).

The Sweden striker was not deemed ready for Saturday’s 3-0 win over Liverpool after missing the majority of pre-season.

But Clarke says he has made good progress in training over the last week and has revealed he will be part of the travelling squad to visit White Hart Lane.

He will now provide another option, with Peter Odemwingie, Shane Long, Zoltan Gera, Romelu Lukaku, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Yassine El Ghanassy all vying for one of the front three positions.

“Markus didn’t even make the squad at the weekend,” said the Baggies boss.

“He was probably just a week too late joining us.

“If he’d been a week earlier, Markus would have made my job even more difficult.

“He’s coming on, he’s great.

“We had a training session with the substitutes and the players who weren’t involved on Sunday.

“Markus was electric in training, so he’s looking good.

“He’ll be in the travelling party to go to Tottenham.”

Clarke has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Spurs encounter.

James Morrison and Jonas Olsson are both expected to be fit after managing to overcome knocks picked up on international to face the Reds at the weekend.

“James and Jonas will get checked out this morning,” the Albion chief added.

“I’m expecting at least one of them to train and one maybe not to train.

“If I’ve got them both out there today it would be good.

“But if I don’t it doesn’t matter because they’ll be ready for the weekend.”
