‘Focused, humble and motivated’ - Bilić on Albion attitude

Slaven Bilić says Albion will remain “focussed, humble and motivated” as they look to build on their unbeaten start at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday (ko 12.30pm).

The Baggies are level with Rangers on 16 points having won four and drawn four of their opening eight fixtures, and remain one of just five English league teams to have not yet tasted defeat.

Slaven admits there has been a real “buzz” at the Club’s training ground this week - following Sunday’s 4-2 win over Huddersfield - but believes his players are motivated enough without looking at the Sky Bet Championship table.

“There’s a buzz and it’s great to work in this kind of atmosphere, so we will do everything we can to maintain this,” he said.

“For that to continue we will need a really good performance tomorrow.

“We have to stop them playing and also on the ball we have to be as creative and as brave and confident as we have been so far this season.

“I’m expecting a good game to watch because they like to play and we like to play.

“As I said, we have a strong belief and we are on a good run. We respect them, of course we do, but we are ready. We have almost the whole squad available for the game tomorrow.

“We are only focussed on our next game. Okay, the players probably know that three points can bring us there [to the top of the league] but we are motivated enough to maintain our good run.

“We know it is all about taking the points and, as I said before, it’s great to work in this atmosphere and the players know that.

“All we can do is be totally focussed, humble and motivated and and up for it.”

And Slaven insists he can “feel” Albion’s “tremendous” away support from the touchline.

“They have been great for us at home and away,” he added. “At home you expect it of course but away they have been tremendous since the first away game against Forest, then Luton, then Derby, then Fulham.

“I really feel them and they are a major part of this small success or good run that we are having at the moment.”
