Baggies jet off for international action

The October break will see five members of Albion’s first-team squad jet off around the world to represent their national teams.

Defender Ahmed Hegazi will continue his return to fitness as Egypt host Botswana in a friendly on Monday.

Fellow Baggies centre-back Semi Ajayi is set for a star-studded international in Singapore as his Nigerian side take on Brazil on Sunday Sunday.

Ali Al-Habsi could be in line to win caps number 132 and 133 in goal for Oman as they play World Cup qualifiers at home to Afghanistan (Thursday) and away in Qatar (Tuesday).

Closer to home Dara O’Shea’s Republic of Ireland Under-21s continue their road to Euro 2021 with important matches against Italy (Thursday) and Iceland (Tuesday), and Nathan Ferguson could turn out for England Under-20s when they face Italy (Thursday) and Czech Republic (Monday). Charlton loanee Jonathan Leko has also been selected in the Young Lions squad…

Elsewhere Oliver Burke has been recalled to the Scotland senior squad following four appearances for La Liga team Alaves in the last month. Steve Clarke’s men travel to Russia (Thursday) and host San Marino (Sunday).
