Four Baggies feature on the international stage

Four Albion players starred for their countries on Thursday, with three helping their nations to wins while Ahmed Hegazi played 90 minutes in a draw.

Albion's Egyptian defender gained more valuable minutes for his country as they opened up their AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against Kenya.

Mahmoud Kahraba netted the Pharaohs’ opener just before half-time, but Kenya found an equaliser through Michael Olunga in the 67th minute.

Egypt will next be in action against Comoros on Monday (ko 1pm).

Ali Al-Habsi took the armband for Oman in a 4-1 win against Bangladesh in a World Cup 2022 qualifier.

Oman currently sit second in Group E, having won three games and lost one.

Elsewhere, Nathan Ferguson played a full game for England Under-20s in a 4-0 win against Portugal.

The result means the young Three Lions currently sit in third place in the Under 20 Elite League, which has eight teams in it.

Meanwhile Dara O’Shea captained Republic of Ireland Under-21s to a 1-0 win against Armenia, although he was dismissed 15 minutes from the end for a last-man tackle.
