Bartley on importance of maintaining momentum

Kyle Bartley has called on Albion to maintain their momentum following a run of three successive Sky Bet Championship victories.

The Baggies, who recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, will have their sights set on another home triumph on Wednesday night when promotion-chasing Bristol City head for The Hawthorns.

It’s now 7 games unbeaten for Slaven Bilić’s table-topping side and Bartley knows just how crucial momentum can be in a league as tight and as challenging as the Championship.

He said: “It was a fantastic win on Saturday.

“We had players missing, the conditions weren’t ideal and Sheffield Wednesday gave us a really good game.

“We showed what we are all about. We played some great football at times during the game, but then we also had to dig in for certain periods and we did that.

“We can do both.

“It’s a sign of the confidence and momentum we have in this team at the moment and we are desperate to keep this momentum going.

“Momentum is so important in any league, but it’s especially important when you have successive games in quick succession like we have this week.

“The confidence is flowing and we want to keep winning games. We’ve won three in a row and we are unbeaten in seven games.

“In this league you have to be on top form all the time to get results and thankfully we are doing that at the moment.

“We’ve got another really difficult game coming up on Wednesday against a team who will be fighting for promotion this season I’m sure.

“Bristol City are dangerous and we need to be right at it again to get a positive result.

“The fans were brilliant on Saturday and we’ll need them to be as good on Wednesday. They really help us.”
