Jake: We’re going in the right direction

JAKE Livermore is adamant Albion are heading in the right direction having claimed their third straight victory in all competitions on home soil.

Saturday’s 2-1 triumph against Stoke City saw the Baggies record a second Hawthorns win in a week following Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Mansfield Town.

The midfielder, who impressed in the middle of the park, believes his side are starting to reap the rewards of a new style of play and thanked the fans for their patience and backing.

He said: “It’s always good to get a win here at The Hawthorns.

“We were disappointed with the last result at Boro but it was great to bounce back with a decent victory against Stoke.

“We’re trying a different style of play. It’s a different type of football to what we have played the last few years.

“We need our fans to be with us and they have been to be fair. We appreciate their patience and support.

“We all want the same thing and that’s success.

“We are going in the right direction.”

Livermore, who provided a sublime pass which led to Dwight Gayle’s second goal of the afternoon, had plenty of praise for Albion’s man of the moment.

“He’s been different class since he has come in.

“He’s a bright spark.

“We used to play against each other as kids and I was always an admirer so it’s great to play alongside him after all these years.”
