‘The lads were fantastic’ – Livermore

5 May 2018

JAKE Livermore hailed the tremendous effort from each and every Albion player following the dramatic 1-0 win over Spurs.

The England midfielder, who was credited with the winner after a frantic goal-mouth scramble, poured praise on his team-mates after they secured the points in hot conditions against a Spurs side with sights set on Champions League football.

And Livermore insisted results like Saturday’s are even sweeter when one of the top teams are defeated.

He said: “I thought the lads were fantastic today.

“I could go through every single one of them – they all left everything out there.

“The staff as well in terms of the fine details we have put into set-pieces and defending.

“We knew it was going to be tough today and ride the storm at times and we certainly did that.

“Everyone has played their part in recent in recent weeks and I thank them all.

“It’s not ideal to come up against a side who have lots of the ball and the weather is really hot.

“It was difficult conditions but I am delighted for the boys involved, Darren and all the staff at the Club.

“Teams get frustrated when they don’t score early against us.

“Spurs are a top, top team with quality all over the pitch so we knew it was going to be difficult – but that’s what makes the result sweeter."
