Shan ahead of Stoke PL2 clash

JAMES Shan wants his under-23s side to build some momentum as they enter their final stretch of matches in the Premier League 2 season

The young Baggies, who have just five league games left, take on Stoke City at the Palm Training Ground on Monday afternoon.

“I’ve challenged the players to win as many as they can from now until the end of the campaign,” said Shan.

“Last time around against Stoke we probably had our best 45 minutes of the season in the first half.

“In the second half the game changed because of the two red cards, and we struggled to manage it from there and Stoke gained the momentum and won the match.

“They’re a couple of places above us in the league and they’ve had some mixed results in their last few games.

“We’re looking to build some momentum from the performance last week, where we had a really young side out and we played well and were very unlucky to not at least come away with a draw.

“Hopefully a positive result on Monday will stand us in good stead for the following week when we play Alvechurch in the Birmingham Senior Cup.”
