International success for young Baggies

ALBION’s junior players are back from an international tournament in Holland claiming more encouraging success for the Club's young guns.

The Baggies Under 15s group won an eight-team round-robin international tournament hosted by Dutch side OSM ’75.

After Albion lost 3-2 to AEK Athens early on in the tournament, they put together an unbeaten run featuring victories over AFC Amsterdam, OSM ‘75, Omiya Ardija and Aberdeen and a draw with FC Twente as well as last year’s winners Red Bull Brasil.

Those results were enough to see the Baggies finish in the top two and book a final against FC Twente which was won 2-0 thanks to two fantastic Rico Richards goals.

The team, who were the youngest in the competition, scored a total of 17 goals across the eight games with Louie Barry finishing as the top scorer and also claiming the Player of the Tournament Award.

“I was really proud of the players both on and off the pitch throughout the tournament,” said Mike Scott, who was the Lead Coach for the under-15s in the Netherlands.

“The players and staff showed a great unity and togetherness, which helped them reach their achievement of winning the tournament.”

Well done lads!
