Albion v Southampton match preview

ALBION are looking to make it back-to-back home wins when they take on Southampton at The Hawthorns on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The opposition

Southampton are currently on a run that hasn’t seen them win in the Premier League since the end of November.

They’ve subsequently dropped down the table into 18th place, having earned 23 points from their 25 games so far this season.

The Saints sold Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool at the beginning of the January transfer window, but did manage to bring in forward Guido Carrillo from AS Monaco.

Last time out

The last meeting between the two sides was in October when Southampton recorded a 1-0 win over the Baggies at St Mary’s thanks to Sofiane Boufal’s individual effort.

Albion’s most recent victory over The Saints was last season when goals from Matt Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu overturned Shane Long’s opener to hand us a 2-1 win.
