Eight loanees in weekend action

30 April 2018

JACK Fitzwater played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Walsall recorded a crucial 1-0 win over Northampton in SkyBet League One.

The result means that they need just one more point from their final two games to avoid relegation.

In SkyBet League Two Kyle Edwards and Kane Wilson both made second half substitute appearances for Exeter City in their 3-1 defeat at Stevenage. Whilst the result ended their automatic promotion hopes they are already confirmed in the play-offs.

Elsewhere in the same division Tahvon Campbell came on with five minutes to go in Forest Green Rovers’ 3-1 loss away to Luton Town, and Kyle Howkins started for Port Vale but came off inside 43 minutes after picking up an injury as Carlisle United beat them 2-1.

Meanwhile Max Melbourne played a full game in the Scottish Premiership as Ross County lost 2-0 to Hamilton Academical.

And in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Dara O’Shea scored for Hereford as they wrapped up their title-winning season with a 2-0 win at St Ives, and Ethan Ross started for Redditch United in their 2-2 draw with Merthyr Town.
