Wenger pays tribute to Barry

ARSENE Wenger has heaped praise on Gareth Barry after the Baggies midfielder made his record-breaking 633rd Premier League appearance on Monday night.

Gareth played the full 90 minutes for Albion at The Emirates, meaning the former England international surpassed the previous record set by Ryan Giggs.

“It’s an incredible achievement, but he is a marvellous player,” said Wenger.

“Personally I think he’s an underrated player because he is always focused, determined, strong in the challenge, has good vision, a top-quality left foot and is also a very good defender.

“He’s a very intelligent player on the football pitch, and it is an absolutely remarkable achievement because it also shows that this guy has dedicated his life to the game."
