Pulis: We caused them problems

TONY Pulis says his side gave the Premier League leaders a good test in their 3-2 defeat to Manchester City.

Goals from Leroy Sane, Fernandinho and Raheem Sterling were enough to overcome strikes by Jay Rodriguez and Matty Phillips to hand Pep Guardiola’s team the win.

“We knew they were going to create chances but it was just whether we could cause them problems, and we did today.

“The two strikers and the players that came on for us in Hal Robson-Kanu and Matty Phillips were a right handful for them.

“Irrespective of what system or shape you play they’re going to create opportunities because they've got some wonderful players.

“Players who can take you out of the game in one-on-one situations and players who can take you out of the game with passes.

“We got a goal, which was a wonderful pass from Gareth Barry and a great finish from Jay, but things just aren’t going for us.

“To concede that deflected so early after we’d scored - we needed to settle it down and let the dust settle and take it from there.

“Even the chance in the second half for Grzegorz Krychowiak to make it 2-2 was a big moment in the game, and those have to go in your favour if you are going to get something from these types of matches."
