Roberts shines as youngsters get loan action

TYLER Roberts netted a crucial late goal to help Walsall to an important Sky Bet League One victory last night.

The 18-year-old striker fired his fifth goal of the season as the Saddlers climbed to 15th in the table with a 4-2 home win over Fleetwood Town. Baggies defender Shaun Donnellan came on to replace him with seconds remaining at the Banks’s Stadium. 

Rekeem Harper was a 52nd-minute substitute as Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn won 4-2 at Oxford in League One.

Young attacker Kyle Edwards played 90 minutes for Exeter who lost 3-1 at Crawley in League Two. Albion full-back Kane Wilson came on with 18 minutes remaining for the Grecians. 

Central defender Jack Fitzwater played all of Forest Green Rovers’ 3-2 defeat at Chesterfield. 

Ethan Ross was between the sticks as Redditch United recorded a 4-1 home victory over Frome Town in the Southern League Premier. 

Jonathan Leko was an unused substitute as Bristol City were defeated 2-1 Preston North End at Ashton Gate.
