Pulis 'delighted' for Livermore

Gaffer says midfielder deserves his opportunity

TONY Pulis was left “absolutely delighted” by news of Jake Livermore’s selection for the senior England squad.

Livermore is in line for his second cap, having made an England debut while at Spurs in 2012, for the forthcoming internationals against Germany and Lithuania.

This follows Livermore’s move to the Baggies from Premier League rivals Hull City during the transfer window and the man behind that transfer took special delight in breaking the news to the midfielder today.

“I am absolutely delighted for him – he’s been a pleasure to have around the Club from the moment he signed and thoroughly deserves this selection,” said Albion’s head coach.

“Jake has so much to offer and is only just really starting with us. There is a lot more to come.

"At the moment, he is still in the process of understanding exactly what we want from him in his role with us but he has all the tools to complete the task.

“It’s brilliant news for the club. I am told Albion haven’t had an outfield player on the pitch for England since Steve Hunt in 1984 and that’s much too long.

"Let’s hope Jake gets his opportunity because he deserves it.”
