Evans on the challenge of facing top sides

Defender disappointed with Goodison defeat

JONNY Evans believes Albion will relish the challenge of putting their season back in forward motion following the defeat at Goodison Park.

The Baggies must seek a return to winning ways against traditional powers Arsenal and Manchester United, with the visit of the Gunners to The Hawthorns up first on Saturday, March 18 (ko 12.30pm).

Albion have been hit by successive losses to Crystal Palace and Everton and Evans admits the players have been jolted by what they see as a drop in standards.

But he is convinced clashes against the Premier League’s top clubs can provide the trigger for his side to rediscover their best form.

He said: “There’s a few tough games for us to come towards the end of the season, but that’s the Premier League for you.

“Sometimes the tough games can be the best games to play in.

“We want to go into them and express ourselves and hopefully get a better outcome than the one we got at Goodison Park.

“Our league position is nice but we have been disappointed with our last two performances.

“They haven’t been to the level that we have been used to this season.

“Everton kept the ball really well and their players worked really hard.

“We were playing against a good team who are above us in the league and who are looking to break into the top six.”
