Welcome to #AlbionCares week!

Baggies prepare for Foundation Day

WELCOME to #AlbionCares week and the chance for our big-hearted Baggies family to step into the spotlight.

We reckon we have got the best Community programme in football and this week we intend to prove it.

Our #AlbionCares campaign will thread together a week of events building up to Saturday’s Premier League clash against Southampton when we will once again be highlighting the fantastic community work of the Albion Foundation.

That game will be our annual Foundation Day fixture – which this year is being sponsored by London Midland – when once again we will be highlighting their fantastic community work.

But there’s plenty of ways you can get involved beginning with backing our old favourite Jonas Olsson’s shirt amnesty appeal in aid of the Foundation he has launched in his name to help an impoverished school in India.

Jonas is asking fans to bring discarded football kit – shirts, socks, shorts and boots - to collection points around the stadium or the Fanzone on Saturday which he will be taking out to Delhi.

The Club are weighing in with free tickets for the Saints clash to our favourite care workers and service personnel. Head Coach Tony Pulis and striker Salomon Rondon began dishing them out today to nurses from Sandwell Hospital and service men and women from the Stafford 22 Signal Regiment.

More free tickets are also on the way to Help for Heroes, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Russell’s Hall, Kaleidoscope, Action for Children and many more besides.
What else?

Tomorrow will see the start of a volunteers’ trip to Kenya to continue supporting the Foundation’s support projects in another impoverished part of the world.

Wednesday sees the beginning of the annual Baggies Bike Challenge when legends ‘Super Bob’ Taylor, Brendon Batson and ‘Blind Dave’ Heeley will again lead 30 willing volunteers on the two-wheel journey from Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium to The Hawthorns to raise funds.

And look out towards the end of the week when we will tell you about a special Fans’ Champion nominee who is the very essence of the #AlbionCares philosophy.

You can join in and follow the activities via #AlbionCares on Twitter and the rest of the Club’s media platforms while we will be keeping you up to date every day on wba.co.uk as we build up to the Southampton game.

Get involved and stay in touch and let’s prove just how much #AlbionCares
