Rondon features in Venezuela’s World Cup qualifying loss

Striker plays 90 minutes for his nation

SALOMON Rondon’s Venezuela side suffered a 2-0 defeat against Colombia in an action-packed World Cup qualifier in Barranquilla.

The Baggies forward completed 90 minutes in a game which saw two goals, two red cards and two missed penalties.

Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Macnelly Torres sealed the three points for Colombia with nine minutes remaining.

Carlos Bacca and Rodriguez missed spot kicks for the hosts while Venezuela had Angel Wilker and Rolf Feltscher sent-off, meaning the duo will miss the trip to Argentina on Tuesday night.

Rondon’s nation sit bottom of South American qualifying with just one point from seven games.
