Brunt delighted to be back in action

Midfielder features for Albion’s Premier League 2 side

CHRIS Brunt was delighted to be back in action after playing just over an hour for Albion’s Premier League 2 side as they beat Aston Villa 5-2 last night.

The Northern Ireland international made his first appearance since February in the derby at the Banks’s Stadium and said it was good to be playing again.

“I’ve been training for the last couple of weeks but it’s never the same until you get on the pitch.

“I felt a bit rusty at first but got better as the game went on and it was nice to get 60 minutes. It’s a step in the right direction.

“Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I can get some more game time and get back into the swing of things,” said Brunt.

Goals from Rekeem Harper, Callum McManaman, Kane Wilson and a double from Tahvon Campbell gave James Shan’s men a comfortable victory against a strong Aston Villa side.

And Brunt thinks the amount of talent in the Albion academy is something the club can be proud of.

“The youngsters here have fantastic ability and it will benefit them to be in and around the first team.

“They’ve all shown great attitude in pre-season and hopefully they'll have big futures."
