Shan hails 'power of zero'

PL2 boss speaks after Rovers return

JAMES Shan highlighted the "power of zero" after Albion beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in Premier League 2.

Tyler Roberts netted an early penalty as the Baggies earned their fifth win in six games, recording a third clean sheet of the campaign.

And the PL2 coach believes Albion reaped the rewards for a solid backline in what he admitted was an otherwise disappointing performance.

“If you’re looking just at results and winning then it’s a fantastic result in terms of three points and a clean sheet,” said Shan.

“But if I’m looking at it from a developmental point of view and looking at our performance, I’m disappointed.

“I thought we started very, very well for the opening ten minutes and if we’d have continued to have played that way then I’d have been the happiest man in the stadium but it wasn’t the case.

“In possession I was disappointed with our performance and our quality but defensively the power of zero is there for everyone to see.

“We’ve got a clean sheet and Jack Rose in goal was not really asked a question in terms of having to make a save.

“Blackburn got plenty of balls into our box from out wide and set-plays that Jack had to deal with but no real saves so the lads have dealt with those situations and will get a big plus from me for that.”
