Late heartbreak for PL2 side

Norwich bag injury-time winner at Carrow Road

THERE was late heartbreak for Albion's PL2 side as they were beaten 2-1 by Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Danny Barbir had opened the scoring for the Baggies in the third minute.

The USA Under-19 international turned the ball home after the hosts failed to clear a corner.

But Albion's lead lasted just three minutes as Kyle Lafferty fired into the roof of the net from inside the penalty area.

Chay Tilt went close in the first period but couldn't quite convert from a tight angle after a mazy run.

Rayhan Tulloch almost put Albion ahead in the second half but the 15-year-old saw his shot cleared off the line after he rounded the keeper.

And as the game looked to be heading for a stalemate, Louis McIntosh completed the comeback for the Canaries.

The substitute bundled in from a yard out in the final minute.

James Shan's side remain third in the Premier League 2 table, and the Baggies boss was disappointed to lose the game so late on.

"We're absolutely gutted.

"Both goals we conceded were pretty soft by our standards.

"I thought we had done ok throughout the game. We started brightly and got the early goal but the momentum changed when they got the equaliser.

"We just couldn't get the second. Chay went close and then Rayhan had a shot cleared off the line.

"It's a killer to be punished with almost the last kick."

And Shan identified the performance of Tulloch as a clear positive in what was a sickening defeat.

"Rayhan played the majority of the second half and to see such a young lad play so well at this level is really encouraging."

Shan's side host Blackburn at Aggborough on Monday 24th October (ko 7pm).
