G-Mac has his say on international team-mate
GARETH McAuley has described his Albion and international team-mate Jonny Evans as a “top-class” player.
The defensive duo lined-up at the back 26 times together over the course of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign, following Evans’ move to The Hawthorns from Manchester United in August.
His first season with the Baggies proved to be a huge success and Evans was subsequently crowned Players’ Player of the Year, collecting the trophy shortly before kick-off on the final day against Liverpool.
Despite an impressive first year with the club, McAuley believes there is still plenty to come from his fellow Northern Irishman.
He said: “Jonny is a top-class player.
“Winning the Players’ Player of the Year award was fully deserved, he has had a fantastic first season.
“We are lucky to have him here at this football club.
“I think he is only going to go from strength to strength the more he settles down and the more he feels comfortable here too.”
