McClean makes it an Albion full house

McClean makes it four from four

JAMES McClean last night made it a full house for Albion as he became the latest Baggies player to advance to the knockout stages of EURO 2016.

The 27-year-old midfielder played all 90 minutes as the Republic of Ireland earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over four-time World Cup winners Italy.

Martin O’Neill’s side, which also featured former striker Shane Long, must now prepare to take on hosts France in Lyon on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans are set for a showdown with fellow Albion defender James Chester on Saturday when Northern Ireland and Wales go head-to-head in Paris.

The winner of that game could go up against former Hawthorns favourite Zoltan Gera but his Hungary side must first overcome a Belgium team which includes 2012/13 loanee Romelu Lukaku.
