Morrison to miss Southampton clash

Olsson and Lambert to be assessed

JAMES Morrison has been ruled out of Albion’s Barclays Premier League clash with Southampton.

The midfielder was forced off with a knee injury after just seven minutes of Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Morrison will be assessed by the club’s medical staff, who will also monitor the fitness of Jonas Olsson.

The towering centre-half completed 90 minutes against the champions – his first action since leaving the pitch against Newcastle on Monday, December 28, owing to a hamstring strain.

Rickie Lambert missed the Chelsea game through illness, but Tony Pulis revealed the striker will be back in contention for a place in the squad at Saints.

The Baggies head coach also said that he will make a few late calls, following a cluttered period of games.

“It’s been a hectic schedule and a few of the players need to be assessed in training today before we make a decision on the team,” said Pulis.
