ALBION 2 PETERBOROUGH 2

Albion must go again in London Road replay

  • Berahino bags brace (14, 84)
  • Striker has eight FA Cup goals in six games
  • Posh twice level through Coulthirst (79) and Taylor (86)
  • Albion Star Man: James McClean
  • Attendance: 22,520
ALBION and Peterborough will go into the hat for the fifth round draw – but face each other again after grinding out a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.

Saido Berahino scored Albion's goals, but twice Posh came back from behind to force levellers.

Albion opened their account on 14 minutes. Rickie Lambert carried the ball away from the halfway line and, with options all around him, opted to play a pass to Berahino. The Albion striker struck a low shot from 25-yards to beat Ben Alnwick.

The Baggies could have doubled their led on 26 minutes. Alnwick dithered as he tried to take control of a back pass, allowing Lambert to slide in with a challenge. The ball started to roll away from Alnwick but he managed to grab control just as Berahino raced in for the follow-up.

McClean missed a glorious chance for Albion when he dispossessed Ricardo Santos and peeled away towards goal. His shot was well saved by Alnwick.

Lambert was again in the thick of it at the start of the second half, just failing to reach Stephane Sessegnon's cross.

Peterborough showed no shortage of graft and endeavour. Yet they were lucky to escape in the 70th minute when Berahino broke quickly. His ball released substitute Salomon Rondon, who played a pass into the centre for the oncoming pack of Albion shirts. Craig Gardner was first to react only to wallop his shot over the bar.

Posh drew level on 79 minutes from a seemingly innocuous ball over the top which caught Sebastien Pocognoli off guard, allowing Shaquile Coulthirst to nip past him and hook a well-taken effort inside Boaz Myhill's near post.

It was a set-back. But not for long. Albion stepped up their efforts and were rewarded less than five minutes later when Berahino poked a low shot past Alnwick as the visitors failed to scramble clear.

And then back came Peterborough. Taylor restored parity with a long-range effort past Myhill.
