McAuley fitness boost

Fitness updates on Albion’s internationals

ALBION defender Gareth McAuley has handed the club a boost in the build-up to Saturday’s Barclays Premier League encounter with Everton at The Hawthorns.

The Northern Ireland defender sustained an ankle injury and was substituted during his nations’s 2-1 victory in Hungary last night - but the damage is not thought to be serious.

Midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is arriving back at Albion’s training ground tomorrow to be assessed by the club’s medical staff after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with DR Congo.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster continues to make progress following a thumb injury which ruled him out of England’s friendly against Norway and tonight's Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland.

James Morrison came through his first 90 minutes of the season unscathed last night as Scotland ran world champions Germany close in Dortmund.

Defender Sebastien Pocognoli, meanwhile, has resumed training having missed Albion’s defeat at Swansea because of a thigh injury.
