Foster praises hard-fought victory

Keeper says three points is all that matters

ALBION goalkeeper Ben Foster has hailed his side’s resilience in their gritty 1-0 win at Leicester yesterday.

The Baggies returned home from the King Power stadium with the three points thanks to an Esteban Cambiasso own goal in the 47th minute.

Alan Irvine’s men had to dig deep and stand strong as the Premier League new boys served up an attritional encounter.

And Foster admits that the game won’t be remembered as a classic, but stresses that the only thing that matters was securing the win.

“It was not a great game at all,” said the England stopper.

“It was probably rotten for all the fans and all the neutrals, and one that people will forget quite quickly.

“I didn’t enjoy the game at all, it was horrible, but this is the type of place where we need to be winning.

“We knew that it was going to be tough, a few teams have already struggled against Leicester this season.

“It was a battle and we had our backs to the wall at times but fair play to the lads, we managed to grind a positive result out.

“To get the win is really pleasing and that is all that matters.”
