Blatter pays respects to 'Chippy' Clark

FIFA boss sends condolences to family of former Albion hero in letter

NEWS of former Albion ace Clive ‘Chippy’ Clark’s passing has struck a chord across the world.

The left-winger, who won the 1966 League Cup and 1968 FA Cup with the Baggies, passed away, aged 73, at the turn of the month.

And FIFA President Sepp Blatter has expressed his deepest sympathy to his family via a letter (see below) to FA Chairman Greg Dyke, which has been handed on to the club.

A sell-out Hawthorns crowd stood for a minute’s applause in honour of Clive at Sunday’s final game of the season against Stoke, with the players and coaching staff joined pitchside by his widow June, former team-mates and other members of the Former Players’ Association.

The flags at The Hawthorns are flying at half-mast today in Clive’s honour, with his funeral taking place at Scarborough Crematorium at 12.40pm.
