Under-14s triumphant in Scandinavia
ALBION Under-14s were recently crowned champions of Denmark’s Norhalne Cup for the second time in three years after defeating host club Aab Aalborg 2-1 in a pulsating final.
The Baggies overcame Swedish outfits IF Lödde, FC Trelleborg and Boo FC, in addition to Danish opposition B1903 and Thisted FC en route to the final - which was played in front of over 600 spectators.
Coaches Delton Francis and Adam Blount found their youngsters 1-0 down in the final before Dan Meredith levelled from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Albion dominated possession throughout the second-half and eventually went ahead with a fantastic strike from Rekeem Harper with five minutes remaining.
Lead youth development coach Mike Scott was delighted with the team's performance in Scandinavia.
"These tournaments are a great opportunity for our Academy players to develop our culture and play against various foreign teams who all have their own playing styles and philosophies.
“Tournaments like the Nolharne Cup offer a number of challenges for our players to learn from and are so valuable in the journey of our Academy players.
“I’m really pleased with both the application and the character our boys showed in the tournament both on and off the pitch.
“They played some fantastic football and scored some excellent goals.
“They adopted a philosophy and a culture that we encourage throughout our academy.”
