Albion to host USA coaching clinics

Baggies will link up with players and coaches in four states this summer

ALBION are set to host coaching clinics across four American states this summer.

Baggies staff will pass on their knowledge to players and coaches in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia between July 7 and August 1 as part of a partnership with state-side company US Soccer Resume.

The club will host five-day camps for players aged eight to 16 and a two-hour clinic for coaches in each of the chosen locations, before heading back to the UK.

Steve Hopcroft, Head of Academy Recruitment at West Bromwich Albion, said: “Part of our recruitment strategy is to look at emerging markets beyond our own shores.

“This is an exciting project that I think we are going to do for many years to come because in America they are football mad, in particular they love the Premier League.

“It's a new area that we are going to explore and I am sure if we find some players and the courses are successful, then it will be rolled out across the States, and there will be more opportunities for players in America to come to England and hopefully one day play in our first-team.”
