Albion set to host trials for ball kids
YOUNG Albion fans could be ball kids when The 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals return to The 02, London, this November.
The Baggies are hosting a regional trial at the club’s Barclays Spaces 4 Sport Sports Hall – but wannabe ball kids must first register their interest here before 23.59pm on Sunday, July 6.
Barclays want to encourage the next generation, not only to play tennis, but to become supporters and volunteers for the game.
Over the last four years Barclays Ball Kids has sought 30 of the most enthusiastic and talented ball kids between the ages of 12 and 16 to spend a week with their heroes, seeing them perform on the court and working with them to put on one of the best tennis tournaments in the world.
For the kids it’s an opportunity of a lifetime, for Barclays it’s an opportunity to say thank you to a group who represent the next generation of tennis volunteers and enthusiasts, without whom no grassroots tennis would take place, and by implication no professional tennis and no Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Whilst the millions watching on television and the tens of thousands at the event will see some of the most talented players of all time keep the professional game in the limelight, there are thousands of fans playing each weekend, encouraging young players or volunteering to coach that are the lifeblood of the game – they help make tennis what it is today.
