Brunt: We need points quickly

Skipper issues rallying call

CHRIS Brunt feels Albion must see out a poor end to 2014 by ensuring they get the New Year off to a good start.

The Baggies take on West Ham United on New Year's Day.

And the Hawthorns captain is determined for Albion to not be sucked into a Spring-long dogfight at the bottom of the table.

He claims the onus is on the players to reignite their season.

"We're letting ourselves down, we're letting everyone down," said Brunt.

"Last year there was a gap between the bottom three and the rest. We flirted with that last year but we want to avoid that this year.

"We need points to avoid having a long end to this season.

"We're going on the pitch and not doing our job. It's not good enough."

Speaking about the trip to East London, Brunt continued:  "West Ham is massive. They're going well - they've had a good start to this season.

"We need to get ourselves going again. We're right in trouble and need to get points on the board."
